Christians and Jews Take on Muslims Sins

With regard to its meaning, al-Nawawi said in his commentary: “The meaning of this hadeeth is the same as the hadeeth narrated by Abu Hurayrah: “For each person there is a place in Paradise and a place in Hell.” When the believer enters Paradise, his place in Hell is taken over by the kaafir because he deserves that because of his kufr. The meaning of the phrase “your ransom from the Fire” is that you could have entered Hell, but this is your ransom because Allaah has decreed a certain number to fill it; when the kuffaar enter Hell because of their kufr and sins, this is like a ransom for the Muslims. With regard to the report, “On the Day of Resurrection, some of the Muslims will come with sins” – Allaah will forgive the Muslims these sins and will absolve them of them, and He will put the like of those sins onto the Jews and Christians because of their kufr and sins. So they will enter Hell because of their own actions, not because of the sins of the Muslims. This report has to be interpreted in this manner, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning

And no bearer of burdens shall bear another’s burden” [Faatir 35:18]

It says in our #1 source that no one can die for anyone sins (Quran 17:15)

Whoever chooses to be guided, it is only for their own good. And whoever chooses to stray, it is only to their own loss. No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. And We would never punish ˹a people˺ until We have sent a messenger ˹to warn them˺.

Exodus 13:13

But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb ; but if you cannot redeem it, then you shall break its neck😂

Judge Iyad, may God have mercy on him, said:

“Since every accountable person has a seat in Paradise and a seat in Hell, whoever truly believes, his seat in Hell will be replaced by a seat in Paradise, and whoever does not believe, then the opposite is true. The disbelievers will be like the successors to the believers in their seats in Hell, and the deputies will be their places in it. Also, since the divine oath preceded the fullness of Hell, its people will be filled with disbelievers, as a salvation for the believers and a way out for them from the Fire. In that case, they will be like ransom and release for the believers. Perhaps the Jews and Christians were mentioned specifically because they are known for opposing the Muslims and being opposite to them in their belief in the Messenger, which necessitates their salvation. The result of all of this is

that on the Day of Resurrection, every Muslim will have a Jew or a Christian, and he will be freed from the Fire. This does not contradict the fact that some of the disobedient Muslims will enter the Fire because of their sins, so that God may purify them from it, because they will enter it, then leave it by the mercy of God, then enter Paradise, and inherit the seats of the disbelievers in it, because God has forbidden it to the disbelievers.

And his saying, may God bless him and grant him peace: “God Almighty will deliver to every Muslim a Jew or a Christian, and say: This is your redemption from the Fire.” This indicates that this favor is general to all Muslims without excluding any of them, because redemption is salvation, as mentioned above, and salvation is for every Muslim, and this does not contradict his entering the Fire, because his entering it is an entry of purification
