Fraud No. (8)_ We Wished for Friday to Eat That
Hadith 946 - Friday - Sahih Al-Bukhari
On the authority of Sahl, he said: There was a woman among us who used to plant chard on Wednesdays in her farm. When it was a Friday, she would pull out the roots of the chard and put them in a pot, then put a handful of barley on top of it and grind it. The roots of the chard would be its roots. We would leave the Friday prayer and greet her, and she would bring that food to us. To us, so we lick it. We used to wish for Friday for its food. That is
the meaning of some words. Wednesday = plural of spring, which is a small table.
First : I do not know what is wrong with a generous woman who skillfully prepared food for people on Fridays. When people got used to her, they loved her for her mastery of cooking. There is nothing in the speech that indicates that they did not love Fridays except for this matter. If I said: I wish for a summer vacation to visit the beaches of Alexandria for a week, does this mean that I will do nothing and do not like anything during the summer vacation except for a week of traveling to Alexandria?
Second: Wishing in the language indicates the meaning of impossibility of occurrence or the slowness of seeking what is beloved to the soul. So if we say: Oh, if only youth would return one day, this means that we are wishing for something that will never happen. And if I say: Oh, if only Friday would come quickly, this means that I am slowing down Friday because the day has a known time that does not advance or delay. The companions said: We used to wish for Friday because of that food. The meaning of this - for those who understand Arabic - is that we want Friday to come quickly because we crave that food.
Third: The human desire for good food is innate and there is no fault in it. Therefore, we cannot understand why the Lord said to Ezekiel (Ezekiel 4:12) : “And you shall eat barley cakes; you shall bake them with the dung that comes out of man in their sight” … May God protect you .
