Is Mirza the Son of Mary?

Prophet Muhammed ﷺ swears by Allah that Isa ibnu Maryam will be the one descending amongst this Ummah.

Now what makes this hadith and its wording important, is the use of “son of Mary”. This automatically disqualifies anyone from claiming to be Jesus who isn’t actually the biological son of Maryam, and Subhan Allah this as well is one of the wisdoms we see in the choice of Words from Allah in the Quran and the Prophet’s ﷺ sayings recorded in ahadith.

Prophet Isa is uniquely referred as “Son of Maryam” leaving no door open for anyone to claim to be the second coming of Isa and it to be fulfilled in any other way apart from the literal meaning of the Son of Maryam coming, which necessitates that it really is the Son of Mary.

Mirza himself faced this issue, and he knew he couldn’t make the claim of being literally born of Maryam who has long passed away, as anyone would catch up onto this.

In fact, Mirza made a response to this very argument:

Mirza is left with no opportunity other than twisting this into a metaphor and claiming God named him ‘Maryam’

proceeding to plagarize Surah Az-Zukhruf (43:70)

Later Mirza Ghulam claimed to have “metaphorically” been made pregnant.

“I remained nurtured in the attribute of Mary for two years, growing under a veil.

Then, when those two years passed, as recorded in Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya, Part Four, page 496, the spirit of Jesus was breathed into me just as it was into Mary, and metaphorically, I was declared pregnant. And finally, after several months—though not exceeding ten months—through that revelation which is recorded last in Barahin-e-Ahmadiyya, Part Four, page 556, I was transformed from Mary into Jesus. Thus, in this manner, I became the son of Mary.”

All of this still fails in making him Isa ibn Maryam.

Furthermore Mirza Ghulam is of the opinion that any prophecy including an oath, is to be taken as literal:

Ḥamāmat al-Bushrā p.49

“And the oath clearly indicates that this prophecy is to be taken in its literal sense—there is neither any interpretation nor any exception in it. Otherwise, what would be the purpose of the oath?”

Looking back at the hadith, we find Prophet Muhammed ﷺ swearing by Allah that it is Isa ibn Maryam that will descend amongst this Ummah.

Taking this prophecy literally means Isa ibn Maryam in that hadith, could only be the one historic biological son of Maryam sent to the children of israel around 2000 years ago.
