Old Testament Books and the Arabic Language
Old Testament books and the Arabic language
Most Christians mock and doubt the Arabic language, but they do not know that the Arabic language was important in understanding the meanings of words in the books of the Old Testament. The Hebrew language had disappeared long ago, and there were no linguistic dictionaries that preserved its words. Therefore, the Jewish rabbis during the time of the Islamic Caliphate resorted to the help of Arabic dictionaries to understand the meanings of many unknown words in the books of the Tanakh, or the books of the Old Testament, as Christians call them.
There is a popular theory that explains the similarity between Arabic and Hebrew, which is that Hebrew took its words from Arabic. Hebrew was originally an Arabic dialect that then split off from Arabic and became independent.
