(And on his authority) meaning: on the authority of Abu Hurairah (he said: The Messenger of Allah - may Allah bless him and grant him peace - said: ” The earth vomits ”): present tense of vomiting, meaning: the earth throws out (” The pieces of its liver ”): with the opening of the hamza, the plural of a piece, which is a piece cut lengthwise, and what is in the earth is called a liver in comparison to the liver in the belly of a camel; because it is the most beloved thing hidden in it, just as the liver is the best thing in the belly of a camel, and the most beloved to the Arabs. We only said in the belly of a camel because Because Ibn al-A’rabi said: “The ‘fildh’ is only for camels, so the meaning is: its treasures appear and are taken out from their bellies to their backs.” (“The likes of the columns”): with a damma on the hamza and the ta’, and in a correct copy: “The column” so it is one, and the first is a genus and it is more appropriate to collect the likes, and his saying: (“Of gold and silver”) is to explain the general situation. Al-Qadi - may God have mercy on him - said: Its meaning is that the earth throws out from its belly what is in it of treasures ,

, and it was said: what is rooted in it of mineral veins, and his saying: The likes of the column indicates it, and he likened it to the ‘fildh of the livers in appearance [p. 3432] and shape, for they are pieces of the liver cut lengthwise. I say: Perhaps the hadith contains an allusion to the saying of Allah the Almighty: When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake and the earth discharges its burdens, (“Then the killer will come”) meaning the killer of a soul (“and say: For this”) meaning: in pursuit of this purpose, and in order to achieve this goal (“I killed”) meaning: whom did I kill of souls, (“And the severs”) meaning: the severs the ties of kinship (“and say: For this I severed my ties of kinship, and the thief will come and say: For this I cut off my hand”) in the passive form. If it had been narrated as known, it would have had a face, meaning: he caused my hand to be cut off (“Then they will call him”) with the opening of the dal meaning: they will leave what he vomited of treasure or metal (“and they will not take anything from it”). (Narrated by Muslim), and also by al-Tirmidhi.

In our explanation of the hadith, we will only discuss the first part of it, which is:

  • The earth vomits out the pieces of its liver, like columns of gold and silver.

We will not talk about the second part of the hadith in which the murderer, the thief, and the one who severs family ties will see these treasures and regret what they did to obtain them, then they will leave these treasures and not take anything from them.

This part of the hadith has not been fulfilled yet, and God knows when and how it will be fulfilled.

But what is important in this topic for us is the first part

and its meaning, as understood by the ancient scholars, is that the treasures of the earth will come out from its belly to its back, and these treasures will be like cylinders of gold and silver. That is, they will not really be cylinders of gold and silver, but they will be like cylinders of gold and silver . Are there treasures that have come out from the belly of the earth to its back in our time, and we can say that they are like cylinders of gold and silver? Yes, this description applies to oil in a striking way, and God knows best. There is no doubt that oil is the treasures of the earth and that in our current era it is a source of wealth in many countries such as the Gulf countries, and it is actually coming out of the belly of the earth. And likening its coming out to vomiting is a very accurate comparison indeed

Man vomits the food he ate, and oil was formed from plants and animals that lived in the oceans millions of years ago. When these creatures died, their bodies sank to the layers of the earth at the bottom of the oceans and decomposed, forming oil and natural gas. For those who want to learn more about the details of the process of oil and natural gas formation, please visit the following link: http://f03.classes.colgate.edu/fsem0…ion_of_oil.htm It is as if these creatures, after their death, were food that the earth ate and digested, forming oil and natural gas. Naturally, when oil comes out again from the belly of the earth after millions of years, it is as if it is vomiting the food in its belly, so the most accurate expression that can be used here is the earth vomits. Glory be to God… Indeed, the prophetic expression is amazingly accurate… There is no more accurate expression than (the earth vomits) that can be used here. We come to (like cylinders of gold and silver) … Of course, comparing oil to gold and silver is understandable because it is a source of wealth … What is striking is that people, without being aware of the hadith, used the same precise prophetic simile in describing oil, describing it as black gold … We come to (cylinder), which is the plural of cylinder , and of course the shape of the cylinder is well-known and very beautiful … A look at the oil barrels or oil cylinders, and thus we see that the expression ( the earth vomits ) is accurate in describing the emergence of oil from the earth , and that comparing oil to gold and silver is an accurate simile because oil is a source of wealth, and people are accustomed to calling it black gold, and that oil is placed in barrels or cylinders, which clarifies the accuracy of the simile (like cylinders)
