Islamic Perspective on Slavery
Historical Context
Slavery was a reality before Islam in various sources.

Islamic Perspective on Intercourse with Female Captives
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Whoever slaps or beats his slave, his expiation is to free him.”

In general, it is not necessary to have intercourse with a female captive or female slave, but it may be forbidden (kinship/breastfeeding/shared/pagan/married). Rather, the master was urged to marry his female slave (An-Nur 32).
