The Devil of the Messenger of Allah, Peace Be Upon Him
told me Harun bin Saeed Al-Ayli told us Ibn Wahb told us Abu Sakhr told me on the authority of Ibn Qusayt who told him that Urwah told him that Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, peace be upon him, told him that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, left her at night. She said: I became jealous of him. Then he came and saw what I was doing and said: What is the matter with you, Aisha? Are you jealous? I said: Why should someone like me not be jealous of someone like you? The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: Has your devil come to you? She said: O Messenger of Allah, is there a devil with me? He said: Yes. I said: And with every person? He said: Yes. I said: And with you, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Yes, but my Lord helped me against him until I became Muslim

On the authority of Yahya, he is the son of Saeed Al-Ansari, on the authority of Ubadah bin Al-Walid bin Ubadah bin Al-Samit, that Aisha said: I sought out the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and I put my hand in his hair. He said: Your devil has come to you. I said: Do you not have a devil? He said: Yes, but God helped me against him, so he became a

. Response:
First: Muslims believe that Iblis and his descendants from the devils of the jinn and mankind are in Hell, because Allah the Almighty said to Iblis: {He said, “Go, and whoever follows you among them - indeed, Hell is your recompense - an ample recompense.”} (Al-Isra: 63). So
Iblis is from the people of Hell, and whoever followed him from the jinn and mankind from his soldiers entered Hell with him - may Allah save us from them - and the evidence that there are devils from the jinn and mankind is that: Allah the Almighty says: { And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring one another with adorned speech to deceive. And if your Lord had willed, they would not have done it, so leave them and what they invent. } (Al-An`am: 112) Secondly
: The people of doubt should have first differentiated between Iblis and Satan. In any case, I say: There is a big difference between them; Allah the Almighty says: { And [mention] when We said to the angels, “Prostrate to Adam,” and they prostrated, except for Iblis. He was of the jinn and disobeyed the command of his Lord. Then would you take him and his descendants as allies instead of Me while they are to you an enemy? An evil exchange for the wrongdoers . } (Al-Kahf: 50)
It is noted from this noble verse that Iblis was of the jinn and disobeyed the command of his Lord. According to some scholars, Iblis is derived from the word “iblas,” which means despair of Allah’s mercy. It is not declined because it has no equivalent name, and he is the father of the devils and their first origin, just as Adam is the father of mankind. The word “devils” is the plural of “devil”. A devil is any rebellious person among humans, jinn, or animals. It is a term used to refer to a rebel from the world of jinn. The devils among humans and jinn whisper falsehood, call for evil, and prevent people from doing good. We believe that the jinn are charged with duties; some of them will enter Paradise, and some of them will enter Hell. God Almighty created them to worship Him, as indicated by His Almighty saying: ” And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me .” (Adh-Dhariyat 56)
And the Almighty said: { O company of jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours? They will say, “We bear witness against ourselves.” And the worldly life deceived them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers .} (Al-An’am: 130)
Allah the Almighty says: { And among us are Muslims, and among us are the unjust. So whoever submits - those have sought out the right course. } (Al-Jinn: 14).
The origin of the devil is disbelief, so if he submits to Islam, he is not called a devil, but rather he is a Muslim jinn, and if the Muslim jinn disbelieves, he is called a devil. According to the hadith that we are talking about, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Aisha: “Has your devil come to you?” She said: “O Messenger of Allah, is there a devil with me?” He said: “Yes.” I said: “And with every human being?” He said: “Yes.” I said: And with you, O Messenger of God? He said: Yes, but my Lord helped me against him until I became Muslim .
So the devil of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was a disbelieving jinn who submitted to Allah, the Most High, the Most Great. As for Iblis, he will never submit, for he is the father of the devils and their leader who was banished from the mercy of Allah. Therefore, it was necessary for them to differentiate between Iblis and Satan, so that the hadith would not be misunderstood as was the case with the people of doubt .
Third: It is stated in the explanation of the Tahawiyyah Creed by Ibn Abi al-Izz, with Sheikh Ahmad Shakir’s commentary on this hadith: “But my Lord helped me against him until I submitted.” Aslam with the damma on the meem in some versions (aslamu) meaning: that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was saved from his evils and his whispers … This is also a good interpretation of the hadith.
