Early Christians saw Mary as the wife of God.
Saint Augustine said: “Saint Mary reached the level of perfection, and for this reason God took her as his wife.”

One of the titles of Mary according to the Orthodox and Catholic churches is “Bride of the Lord” because they believe that Mary is the true bride of the Lord, as Pope Shenouda III mentions.

One of the prayers offered to Mary in the Coptic Church liturgy is: “Rejoice, O bride, and her bridegroom - He - is her God.”

Saint Ephrem the Syrian: Mary was blessed with marriage with God!
“She was clothed with divine grace as a garment, and her soul was filled with divine wisdom in her heart. She was blessed with marriage with God, and she re
ceived God in her womb.”

Reasons that led to the worship of Mary..

Mary holds second place after the Trinity in Christian theology, and is even the god after God!

Christians have continued to elevate the status of Mary (the Mother of God) above every creature, to the point that they depicted the Creator of the heavens and the earth -according to their beliefas one who is submissive to Mary! In fact, the imagination of Christians in the Middle Ages went so far as to depict God as someone who is jealous of Mary because people turn to her for worship, prayers, and supplications to fulfill their needs!

Prayer and supplication to Mary in the Catholic Church!

Catholics did pray to her, seek healing, and ask for help. .
