Why did the smell of the burnt offering cause God to be pleased in the Old Testament despite his anger at people?
… 4 And he shall lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. 5 And he shall slaughter the bull before the Lord, and the sons of Aaron the priests shall offer the blood and sprinkle it round about on the altar that is at the door of the tent of meeting. 6 And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into its pieces. 7 And the sons of Aaron the priest shall set fire upon the altar, and arrange the wood upon the fire. 8 And the sons of Aaron the priest shall arrange the pieces, with the head and the fat, upon the wood that is upon the fire that is upon the altar. 9 But he shall wash its entrails and its legs with water, and the priest shall burn them all upon the altar as a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour to the LORD . 10 “And if his offering is a sheep, a lamb, or a goat, for a burnt offering, he shall offer a male without blemish. 11 And he shall slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the Lord, and the sons of Aaron the priests shall sprinkle its blood on the altar all around. (Leviticus) ----- I asked myself… What is the connection between the smell of the burnt offering and the pleasure of the Lord? The Lord is a spirit… So why did the Lord delight in the burnt offering? And why did this smell no longer please Him in the covenant of love? We leave the question to the believers in the covenant of grace (the New Testament)..
