Glossary
-# Aristotelian Definition Of Motion
Motion (motus): Not just change of location, but any change from potentiality to actuality.
Actuality and Potentiality: Something can only move from potential to actual by something already actual.
Mover: That which brings about motion/the actualizer of a potential.
Argument
-# Syllogism
P1: Motion exists
P2: Whatever is moved (i.e., goes from potentiality to actuality) is moved by something already actual, or non actual
P3: Something non actual does not have the ability to actualize potential.
C: Everything is moved by something already actual
P4: An infinite regress of movers (things causing motion) is impossible because it would prevent the existence of any actual motion.
C: Therefore, there must be a First Mover, itself unmoved (unactualized), which initiates all motion, and this we call God.
