: “The Hebrew language, like Arabic, is a figurative language that should not be dealt with with a deep understanding.

Rabbi Moses ben Maimon (d. 1204) tells us that the Bible may say (God said) or (God did), and what is meant is other than God Almighty. For example, it means (the angel of God said) or (the silence of God did). That is, the complement is omitted.

This is found in Arabic (and ask the village in which we were), meaning: ask the people of the village.

This meaning is important to recall in understanding the biblical texts.
