Explaining the aspects of Ihram and that it is permissible to perform Hajj individually and Tamattu’

Hajj

2131 Sahih Muslim

Ata’ said: I heard Jabir bin Abdullah among the people with me say: We, the companions of Muhammad, entered into ihram for Hajj purely and exclusively.

Ata’ said: Jabir said: The Prophet came on the morning of the fourth of Dhul-Hijjah and ordered us to become halal. Ata’ said: They became halal and had intercourse with their wives.

Ata’ said: He did not make it obligatory for them, but he made them lawful for them. So we said: Since there were only five days between us and Arafat, he ordered us to go to our wives, so we came to Arafat with our penises dripping with semen.

first: The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, were the people who followed the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, the most and were the most keen on his guidance. Whenever they found the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, doing something, they followed him in it. When they found the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had performed the minor pilgrimage but had not yet completed the state of ihram, they wanted to do the same. When he ordered them to complete the state of ihram, they asked questions. Second: The Companions grew up in the pre-Islamic era venerating the Sacred Monument, and Islam established them on that. When the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered them to complete the state of ihram for the minor pilgrimage and wait for the major pilgrimage, they felt great in their souls that there was something in the Sacred Monument that they did in their homes with their wives. They asked in astonishment: We go and come to Mina, and our private parts are dripping with semen The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, informed them that Allah, who prescribed for them the state of ihram to perform the rituals, prescribed for them to complete the state of ihram until the day of the ritual comes, when they can complete the state of ihram again. Third: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, did not tell them after the minor pilgrimage: Go and come back with your private parts dripping with semen But he ordered them to break the state of ihram and do all permissible things until the time for entering ihram for Hajj came, to make things easier for them.

Fourth: The narrators of the narrations mentioned by the mudallis said: He did not make it obligatory for them, meaning it was not an order of obligation, but he was informing them that it is permissible for the pilgrim to break the state of ihram after Umrah and wait for the time for Hajj and then enter ihram again. Fifth: The Arabic language knows many styles, including exaggeration in speech for a rhetorical purpose, and metaphor. When the companions found the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) order for them to break the state of ihram, they were amazed and said: Let us go to our women and go to Arafat while our penises are dripping with semen This statement does not mean that they enter the sacred sites while they are in a state of ritual impurity or that each one of them is dripping with semen from his private parts! Glory be to Allah, but its meaning is: Should we turn to Allah with worship that requires detachment from the world and its pleasures, when a short while ago we were doing all its permissible things, even intercourse with women? The Bible also used the exaggeration method in Matthew 23/24: “You blind guides! Who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel . ” Is it conceivable that someone would reach a camel or is it an exaggeration? Sixth: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard what they were saying, he went out to teach them that if he had not brought the sacrificial animals, he would have ended his state of ihram with them. When they realized that the matter here was a statement and instruction to the people that it is permissible for the pilgrim to end his state of ihram until the day of Hajj comes, they complied with the command, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. Seventh: The text of the incident

Al-Bayhaqi included in his Sunan al-Kubra the entire Mar, saying: Amr ibn Ali Abu Hafs informed us, saying: Yahya, meaning ibn Saeed al-Qattan, informed us, on the authority of Yahya ibn Saeed al-Ansari, on the authority of Umrah, on the authority of Aisha, who said: We went out with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and we did not think that it was Hajj. When we approached Mecca, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, ordered those who had a sacrificial animal with them to remain in their state of ihram, and those who did not have a sacrificial animal with them to exit ihram. (3787) Yaqub ibn Ibrahim al-Dawraqi informed us, saying: Ibn Ulayyah informed us, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, saying: Ata informed me, on the authority of Jabir, saying: We, the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered ihram for Hajj alone, with no one else with him, for Hajj alone. We arrived in Mecca on the morning of the fourth of Dhul-Hijjah, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, ordered us to enter ihram and make it Umrah. He heard from us that we say that since there was only five days between us and Arafat, we were ordered to exit ihram and go to Mina, and our private parts were dripping with semen. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, stood up and addressed us, saying: What you said has reached me, and I am… For your righteousness and your piety, and were it not for the guidance, I would have been forbidden. If I were to start over in my life what I have turned back, I would not have given it as a gift. He said: Ali came from Yemen and said: “What did you enter into ihram for?” He said: “What did the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, enter into ihram for?” He said: “Then make a sacrifice and remain forbidden as you are.

Suraqah ibn Ju’sham said: “O Messenger of God, do you think this Umrah of ours is for this year or for eternity?” He said: “It is for eternity.” Al-Albani - Sahih al-Nasa’i 2804
