Isaiah 7_14 Immanuel
Christians prove the divinity of Jesus and the incarnation of the Word by the prophecy of the Prophet Isaiah 7:14) But the Lord himself will give you a sign: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel,” which means “God with us.” They consider this an irrefutable proof of the incarnation… While we find that they have distorted the translation from its Hebrew meaning.
as the Hebrew original of Isaiah 7-14: never speaks of a virgin [ לכן יתן אדני הוא לכם אות הנה #העלמה הרה וילדת ben וקראת שׁמו עמנו אל׃ ] The word (העלמה) is pronounced (alma) and means a girl or a young woman, not a virgin. It is worth noting that two of their greatest scholars translated it as {a young girl} and not a virgin

. ⏬ We are not talking here about a virgin, but about a young wife who had not been married for a long time, and here is a reference to the king’s wife.

Bishop Kyrillos Salim Bustros announced this fact by saying, “The Hebrew word means either a girl or a young woman who had not been married for a long time.” According to the historical meaning, this verse refers to the birth of King Ahaz’s son, and [alma] is therefore the king’s wife. So what is the story of this prophecy? ⏬

The prophecy talks about the siege of Ahaz, king of Judah, by the king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel. Ahaz was suspicious of them, so the prophet Isaiah gave him the good news that their kingdom would end, and the sign of the end of their kingdom was that Isaiah’s young wife would give birth to a son and name him (Immanuel). Before that son could distinguish between good and evil, their kingdom would end. The prophecy was actually fulfilled

, which was done by Tiglath-Pilemer III, king of Assyria, who attacked Damascus, conquered it, took its people captive, and killed its king Rezin in 732 BC. Ten years later, Shalmaneser, king of Assyria, besieged Samaria for three years, and finally it fell into the hands of the Assyrians in 722 BC. Thus, the prophecy was fulfilled, as Isaiah had foretold, and the kingdom of these two kings was ended.

Saint Justin, in his dialogue with Tryphon, conveys to us the Jewish opinion on this prophecy. The Jews believe that the prophecy does not speak of a virgin, but of a young woman, and that it was fulfilled seven centuries before Christ, during the time of King Hezekiah. According to Tryphon, Christians should be ashamed to repeat these absurdities.

What does Jesus have to do with a prophecy that was fulfilled six centuries before his coming? Also, assuming that the intended Emmanuel is Jesus, Christians believe that Jesus is God and the second person of the Trinity. So how could there have been a time when God could not distinguish between good and evil? This prophecy also speaks of the Son (Emmanuel)?! ⏬

Can God go through a time when he cannot distinguish between good and evil, as is the case with the newborn [Emmanuel], and we assume that he is [Jesus]?! Also, many foreign translations of the Bible realized that {alma} does not mean a virgin, but a young woman, so they translated it as the young woman.

Many contemporary Christians realized that this was taking the number out of context, so they said that there is a double interpretation of the prophecy, meaning that it was fulfilled in the time of Ahaz and was fulfilled again in the time of Jesus. But in doing so, they fell into a trap they set for themselves, because this means that Mary is not the only one who was born without human seed. So what makes the birth of Jesus special?
The Spanish philosopher Michael Servetus declared that the Hebrew word “alma” does not mean virgin, but rather a young woman (this is what all Hebrews insist on), and that this is a prophecy that occurred seven centuries before the birth of Jesus. He also decided that the claim that this prophecy speaks of a virgin is a complete distortion!
So the church burned him alive!

The original Hebrew text says, “Behold, the young woman shall conceive and bear a son,” and not, “Behold, the virgin .” the ref
is taken from an angel whom the Lord preserved.

Isaiah’s prophecy about Immanuel does not speak of a virgin [bethula], but rather of a young woman.
What prompted Matthew to translate it as a virgin was that he relied on the Septuagint and not the Masoretic text.
Surprisingly, the Septuagint, as quoted by Jerome, translates it as
[the virgin will conceive and will bear seed] , referring to sexual birth .
If Christians cling to the Septuagint, which contradicts the Masoretic text, and attempt to adapt the historical prophecy to suit Jesus,
then they must acknowledge that the Virgin gave birth through human seed,
because this is what the Septuagint states, and this would completely destroy religion
